How to Pack the Perfect Boho Beach Bag

You're going to the beach, or the lake, or the park, or wherever.  Summer's all about being a free spirit, going wherever the wind blows you, and having fun outside, so you definitely want to be prepared.  We've put together a list of the top Summer "beach" essentials for the boho gal, and the perfect bag to carry it all around in.

1.  Choose the Right Bag.

Surprise!  Not every beach bag is blue and white with a picture of an anchor on it.  This Baja Beach Bag Waterproof Canvas Tote is the perfect bag for fun at the seaside, but it's cool enough to be used elsewhere as well.

2.  Next up: The Towel

The beach towel is very important, because if you pick a plain one, you might get your stuff mixed up with someone else's.  With this Round Beach Towel / Yoga Mat / Cover-up, you're sure to make a statement.  It's super colorful and because it's thin cotton, it can easily be used several different ways.

3.  Sunscreen

While "beach bag" may be more of your state of mind than your actual destination, wherever you're going, if it's outside, you'll need to wear sunscreen.  This Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunscreen with an SPF of 45, is a particular favorite.

4.  A Versatile Cover-up

Kimonos are fabulous and wraps are functional, but a versatile swimsuit cover-up can go from the beach to dinner.  This Molerani Tank Dress is lightweight and easy to pull on, but can be dressed up with the right accessories to be worn away from the water.

5.  A Great Book

If you haven't read it yet, The Secret History of Wonder Woman by Jill Lepore is a great beach read.  Not only will it enlighten you as to the origin of the fierce female super hero, but it has everything from suffragettes to birth control to pin ups to mistresses and lie detectors.  It's truly fascinating.

6.  Slide Sandals

This pair of Sparkly Steve Madden Slides are everything.  They're beaded and embroidered, and, because they're not made of leather, won't be ruined from all the sand and salt water by the time Summer is over.
