Give the Gift of Ancestry DNA

We got my brother AncestryDNA for his birthday and it still has not stopped being fascinating.  As time progresses, Ancestry is able to continue to further break down exactly where your DNA originates from.  Several years ago when we had my mother's done, it was very general, but in what seemed like no time at all, the results have started to become more specific.  This is because, over time, more people are having their DNA tested for genealogical purposes, and the more people whose DNA Ancestry is in possession of, the more precise they are able to be.  That's why, in my opinion, AncestryDNA is the perfect gift for Christmas, or any time of year, for that matter.

The more people in your own family that you have tested, the more you discover about your own family roots.  It is incredibly interesting to see exactly how different the DNA of a brother and sister who share the same parents can arrange itself in each sibling.  One may inherit much more of their father's DNA and the other may have inherited more of their mother's DNA.  You can see this, of course, when you look at a child who obviously favors one parent over the other, but to see their DNA as compared to their parents is really something.

Give the gift of genealogy this season.  You won't regret it.

Have you had your DNA tested?  Where you surprised with the results?  Tell us in the comments section below!
