1. Gibson Les Paul

The Les Paul, Inspired and partly invented by the man himself, is one of rock's most enduring guitars. It's solid body design with the famous cut away. It's been used by everyone you can ever think of who has picked up a guitar. It's an absolute gorgeous piece of eye candy.

2. Rickenbacker 325

The Rickenbacker 325 is most commonly associated with John Lennon and his early days in the Beatles. This guitar is rarely seen outside of a Beatles tribute band today but it is still a classic rocker and perfect for

3. Epiphone Casino

The Epiphone Casino is favoured by blues artists due to its bluesy tone and semi hollow body. They were originally built to give Blues and Jazz artists a compromise on a slimmer hollow bodied electric guitar. Several Rock and Roll players such as Dave Davies of the Kinks favoured it too. It was when John Mayall introduced the guitar to Paul McCartney, who in turn introduced it to John and George who bought two for themselves that the guitar really became ingrained in the world of Rock. It was favoured by Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones and many other players in popular music after that, including Paul Weller.

4. Martin D-28

The Martin D-28 is one of those acoustic guitars that has that warm, rich tone. Favoured by Johnny Cash, the Beatles, almost anyone you can think of that has picked up one of these beautifully made acoustic guitars. Just listen to Blackbird or Two Of Us from the Beatles later years as an example of this wonderfully warm sounded guitar.

5. Fender Stratocaster
How could we leave the Strat out of a top 5 list? This is probably the most widely recognized guitar out there today. It's slim, solid body and distinctive shape haven't changed much in the 70 years since Leo Fender put it on the market. It was popularized by Buddy Holly in his heyday and ever since then, it has become the guitar of choice for several top guitarists such as John Mayer and Eric Clapton.
