Zucchini Noodles! Delicious Pasta - No Carbs!

By now most of you have probably heard of zucchini noodles, or seen commercials for various gadgets that allow you to easily make noodles out of different types of vegetables, or have eaten them, or all of the above.  But, just in case you haven't, please let me introduce you to your future gadget of choice, The Veggetti Pro (Yes, the one "As Seen on TV" because I'm that girl.  Not really.  Okay, occasionally I'm that girl.  No, not That Girl, that girl.  Oh nevermind.).  I was using ours last night, and it really is so super handy, I just had to share.

So, what is a Veggetti?  Well, the Veggetti Pro (which is the one I have - there are other varieties of the product) is a spiral vegetable slicer with a non-slip, suction cup base.  It comes with three different stainless steel blades and can be used on zucchini and other types of squash, carrots, cucumbers and potatoes.  You suction the gadget to your counter top, choose whether you'd like your vegetable cut thin, thick, or ribboned, stick your vegetable between the crank and the blade, then crank away.  In less than a minute you'll have beautiful spiral-cut zucchini, or the veggie of your choice.  It really is that easy!

I usually use a couple of zucchinis per person, depending on what else I'm serving, as it's not quite as filling as pasta.  Then, I spiralize them all within a few minutes, put them into a pot of boiling water for 4-5 minutes, drain completely and voila!  That's it.  Salt it and serve with your choice of pasta sauce or whatever topping you'd prefer.  It makes a super fast, super healthy meal!

There is a smaller gadget, if you're worried about space.  We first had the original Veggetti, and it works basically the same way, only it's a handheld device and requires a bit more effort.  A little cheaper though, if price is a concern, and definitely takes up a lot less space.  We got rid of ours as soon as the Veggetti Pro came out though, because it's just so much less hassle, and it really does cut the veggies in no time at all.  It comes pretty much totally apart for easy storing, but we just keep our assembled and stored in its box so it's ready to use at a moment's notice!  (In zucchini noodle emergencies, you know.)

When putting this article together, I did just see on Amazon that there's actually another device called the Spiralizer, which appears to be Amazon's best-seller.  I don't know if there's a chance this came before the Veggetti, or if it's just that much more popular, but there are tons of positive reviews.  It's the first time I've heard of this particular device, but now I'm really curious about it, as I see it actually has 5 different blades, as opposed to the Veggetti Pro's three, and a lifetime warranty.  It seems to work almost exactly like the Veggetti Pro, though it is a bit more expensive.

If you have ever used any or, perhaps, all of these devices, please let us know in the comments section how you like them and what's your favorite way to use them.  I'm particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has used the Veggetti Pro and the Spiralizer for how they compare and contrast?
