Confession: I hadn't ever heard of the L.O.L. Surprise Dolls before this year. I KNOW! But, it's true. Now, however, I am officially obsessed. They have Big Sisters and Lil Sisters and Pets and Glitter Dolls and Fizzy Charms and now a Fizz Factory! But, my favorite so far, is the brand new L.O.L. Surprise Big Surprise with 50 surprises.
Just in case you're me from a few months ago, L.O.L. Surprise dolls are small, highly collectible plastic dolls with mix and match accessories, that come in what is commonly called a "blind bag", however, these come in a plastic ball, that not only acts as a carrying case, but can also be a bath, or a display stand. You can find them (if you're lucky) in most of the big retail stores.
In each ball, there is around 5 or 7 surprises that include a hint, stickers, the doll, and her various accessories. The dolls are super cute with small bodies and large heads with great big eyes, but the real appeal, in my opinion, is in what they call the "unboxing." It seems like a gimmick, and I guess it is when you get right down to it, but it's also a lot of fun. In fact, it builds the anticipation of which doll you've got, so much, that my husband and I, two grown adults, were sat on our bed unboxing one of these dolls like a couple of kids!
Once you've peeled back each layer of plastic from the ball, and opened each individual bag containing her shoes, accessory, etc., you finally get to see which doll you got. Then, you fill her bottle with water, give it to her, squeeze her head and get a surprise! Will she spit, cry, or tinkle?! If, by chance, you open a doll you already have, you can find a friend who is willing to trade. It's so much fun to try and collect them all.
And, just in time for Christmas this year they've come out with a BIG Surprise, which is a large version of the smaller ball. The L.O.L. Surprise! BIG Surprise has three different layers and over 50 surprises! It's selling out fast, so if you've got a collector in your household, you'd better pick one up quick before they're all gone. According to blogs I've read, the LOL Surprise dolls sold out last year around this time and were nearly impossible to find. Do you collect these dolls? Which Series has been your favorite?
