Are You Ready To Visit England?

The St. George Cross Flag is the official flag of England.

So, we hear you're planning a trip to England, in the United Kingdom. It's your first time there and you have no idea what to expect. Here are some questions you might be asking yourself:

Is England safe to visit?

England is as safe to visit as any country these days. We can't let terrorists force us to live in a bubble and never have experiences. So the answer is Yes. England is safe to visit.

How long can I stay in England without a visa?

Visitors from English speaking countries can stay in England without a visa for up to six months. If you're unsure, check the UK government website on whether you will need a visa for your trip.

Do they speak English in England?

Yes they do. English has long been spoken in England, though it is not an 'official' language of England.

What is the currency in England?

The currency is not the Euro like on the continent and in the Republic of Ireland. In England, they use pounds and pence. You can also use credit cards or debit cards but you must call your bank first to let them know you're going out of the country or you could be left cut off.

Is the food good in England?

The food is extremely good in England. If you've heard the odd stereotype that seems to persist about British food being awful and it's all rationed, that's all changed now, rationing in Britain ended in 1954. Of course, there are going to be some places that are hit and miss, so be a good traveller and Yelp a place first before you get your Fish & Chips or Chicken Tikka Masala. Find a bloody good pub to get steak and ale pie or bangers and mash in, you will not regret it.

How do I get around England?

In many of the big cities, there is adequate public transport (ie; the London Underground in London) but if you want to drive, remember to drive on the left. This is also the way of walking and standing too. Always keep to the left and you'll do pretty well, except on the Tube escalators. If you don't feel like walking, stand on the right to let people pass. In the bigger cities though, walking is very much encouraged.

Can I use my cell phone in England?

As long as you have turned roaming and cell data off and only use WiFi to get online, otherwise you will be charged.

What historical sites can I see in England?

England, and indeed the rest of the UK, have a huge wealth of historically important sites of interest. Stonehenge is one of the most famous in the world and the Roman Baths in the city of Bath and of course, Windsor castle, which is still used by the British Royal Family to this day. If you want to travel up north to end of England and visit Hadrian's Wall, that's another wonderful testament to Roman times, keeping the barbarians out.

Visiting England is a pleasure and you will enjoy it's multiculturalism as well as it's everlasting beauty.
